David Pereira was born in New York City. He has appeared in a variety of leading operatic tenor roles, nationally and internationally to great acclaim, most recently as Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore with Miami Lyric Opera. David was part of the prestigious Des Moines Metro Opera Young Artist Apprentice program where he appeared in scenes of Bernstein's Candide as Candide, Count Almaviva in Rossini's Barber of Seville, Alfred in Die Fledermaus and Chevalier de la force in Dialogues of the Carmelites. Throughout his Opera career David has appeared in scenes and roles including Rossini's The Barber of Seville as Almaviva, Donizetti's Don Pasquale as Ernesto, Verdi’s Falstaff as Fenton, Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte as Tamino, Massenet’s Manon as Des Grieux, Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte as Ferrando, Bizet’s Carmen as Don Jose, Flotow’s Martha as Lionel, and special appearances with the most notable South Florida organizations such as the
Miami Lyric Opera, Florida Grand Opera, the Hispanic-American Lyric Theatre, Coral Gables Opera & Chamber Orchestra, La Sociedad Pro Arte Grateli, The Miami Master Chorale, Civic Chorale of South Florida, among many others.
David made his theatrical debut in a revival of Broadway’s famous stage play Master Class by Terrence McNally, based on the life of the legendary soprano, Maria Callas. The revival, which gained acclaim from newspapers such as El Nuevo Herald and El Diario de las Americas, premiered in Spanish at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in a production by Venevision International.
David is also active as a singer of oratorio, having performed many of the great works including; Handel's Messiah, John Stainer's Crucifixion, Puccini's Messa Di Gloria, Franck's Die Sieben Worte, Verdi's Requiem, Mozart's Requiem, and many more. He has performed at the major historic South Florida churches and concert venues which include Pinecrest Presbyterian Church, First Methodist Church of Coral Gables, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Chancel Choir, St. Mary’s Cathedral, along with numerous others.
David has recently broadened the scope of his professional singing career by embarking on a new challenge in the crossover genre. David has completed his first EP in Spanish titled Lluvia-- the first move to broaden his experience, and share his musicianship and extensively trained voice in a new style of music.
